Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance C
On October 12th 2017 members of the Dance Science team from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance will be attending the 27th Annual Conference of the International Association for Dance Medicine & Science (IADMS) in Houston, Texas.
BUT CAN WE CARDIO THE DISTANCE?
Trinity Laban PhD Candidate Lucie Clements and Dance Science & Health Graduate Intern Jessica
Coleman have devised a campaign to inspire students at Trinity Laban to delve into all things Dance Science, to advocate the importance of IADMS and highlight the aims of this year’s conference.
Cardio to the Conference (CTTC) in essence embodies the aims of IADMS, working to enhance the health, well-being, training and performance of dancers.
CTTC, in its first year, sees students and staff travel the distance from Trinity Laban’s Dance Faculty Building, London UK across the pond to The JW Marriott, Houston Texas, USA by the power of Cardio.
7818 KM. 4 MONTHS. 1 CHALLENGE.
With the North Atlantic stretching between these two ‘Dance Science landmarks’ this really is no mean-feat! We are therefore asking our students and staff to get involved by documenting how far they’ve travelled over the next 4 months, by Cycling, Running, Cross-Training and Dancing the Distance!
Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance has recently re-opened its state-of-the-art Conditioning Studio. The studio provision allows students and staff access 5 days a week to work on supplementary training. During these ‘self-practice’ sessions members of the Dance Science and Health team encourage Dance, Music and Musical Theatre students and staff to engage in the campaign, not only by adding their kilometres to the journey, but to actively ask questions surrounding supplementary training, Dance Science and IADMS.
Following the IADMS 27th Annual Conference, in which Lucie Clements and Dr Emma Redding are presenting, they will offer a sharing of highlights and key information from the conference to all TL students and faculty members, thus spreading the Dance Science bug!

All encouragement will be greatly received. All together now, only 7818 KMs to go!
We haven’t even completed this challenge yet but we are looking forward to the 28th Conference of the International Association for Dance Medicine & Science (IADMS) bringing Trinity Laban’s
Cardio to the Conference: Helsinki 2018.
